I have been an observer of Longmont City Council for almost 40 years. I’ve
worked with and for numerous councilmembers and mayors during this period
of time. All shared a vision for making Longmont a vibrant family-oriented
community. Josh Goldberg, candidate for Ward 1, embodies many of the
attributes of former councilmembers adding the vision but with the vision
and enthusiasm of the younger generation. Josh has played a vital role in
bringing nationally acclaimed events to Longmont, drawing in people from
all over the United States and foreign countries through his work for the
Left Hand Brewing Company Foundation.
Josh understands the appropriate role of business in providing for and
enhancing the vitality of Longmont. The business community provides a
disproportionate share of taxes that provide all of the amenities that we
cherish as residents of Longmont. As businesses review their options as to
where to locate, a key factor is the attitude of the City Council towards
business. In addition to bringing nationally acclaimed events to Longmont,
Josh has served on the Board of Directors of the Longmont Area Chamber of
Commerce and has been a member of the City’s Planning and Zoning
Commission. This experience will resonate positively with companies
looking to relocate to Longmont.
In all of my dealings with Josh, I have found him to be an attentive
listener, someone who respects and values the opinions of others, a person
who looks for solutions not roadblocks and someone who will make
well-reasoned decisions. I think it is exciting that a person with Josh’s
enthusiasm and age is willing to serve on the Longmont City Council. I urge
the voters of Ward 1 to carefully consider Josh’s candidacy and allow him
to serve the citizens of Longmont in a much broader role.
