Besides our voter education programs such as candidate forums and ballot issue presentations, the League of Women Voters of Boulder County (LWVBC) may also take advocacy positions on selected proposals, but never for candidates.

Besides our voter education programs such as candidate forums and ballot issue presentations, the League of Women Voters of Boulder County (LWVBC) may also take advocacy positions on selected proposals, but never for candidates. LWVBC can support or oppose ballot issues when our members have established a Program Position relevant to the ballot issue. To arrive at such positions, members study a topic in depth and develop a position around areas of consensus. Positions are reconsidered annually.

If the League has no previously studied position on the subject matter of a ballot item, at local, state or national level, or if it has conflicting positions, the LWVBC will remain neutral on that ballot item.

For 2019:

LWVBC is NEUTRAL on:

City of Boulder 2H, as well as Lafayette 2A, 2B, and 2C; Longmont 3B and 3C; and Louisville 2D and 2F.

LWVBC SUPPORTS:

Boulder County 1A, based on our position opposed to term limits.

City of Boulder 2G, based on our position that advocates for additional funding for health benefits through “sin taxes”.

City of Boulder 2I, based on positions regarding equal opportunity and fair housing.

City of Longmont 3D, based on our position which promotes efficient fiscal administration, current and long range.

City of Louisville 2E, based on our position in support of measures to mitigate the effects of TABOR.

LWVCO (Colorado) positions on STATE ISSUES:

Proposition CC: SUPPORT.

Proposition DD: NEUTRAL.

Ballot issue explanations, including pros and cons provided by proponents and opponents, and separate statements of our positions also are available at www.lwvbc.org.
