No candidate for Boulder County Commissioner is more perfectly qualified than state Senator Matt Jones. His deep experience in local and state government will make him effective from day one. I first met Matt while volunteering as a citizen advocate at the state capitol. There I experienced first-hand how Matt fights tirelessly for causes that matter to his constituents and to Boulder County residents.
I believe Matt’s 14 years in both the state House and Senate provide him with unique insight into how to promote effective legislation to solve problems in the county.
Matt also worked for 18 years with City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, often partnering with Boulder County. This experience gave him a deep knowledge of working with the public and running an efficient and effective local government organization. He even was a wildland firefighter and understands disaster response first hand.
I saw Matt fight against fracking in the legislature and he will be the most effective fighting it for the county. I also trust Matt to aggressively advocate for renewable energy and promote incentives for energy conservation and electric vehicles. Matt will fight for Boulder
County’s fair share of public transportation funding for greater multimodal mobility, better roads, and less congestion.
Matt understands that the role of an elected official includes listening to the people and being responsive and personally available.
