St. Vrain Valley School District received recognition as the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation.

The NAMM Foundation advances active participation in music across a person’s lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs.

The award was given to only two Colorado school districts this year and it is the fourth time SVVSD has received it. The award highlights districts that have made a significant commitment to providing music access and education to all its students.

“St. Vrain Valley Schools takes immense pride in the extensive music education opportunities available to our students at every grade level and school across our district,” said Chase McBride, executive director of Fine Arts, Activities, and Athletics for St. Vrain Valley Schools. “Our rich musical environment is a result of the dedicated efforts of our teachers and staff, and St. Vrain’s recognition by NAMM with the Best Communities for Music Education designation highlights the collective commitment of our community to deliver a comprehensive education that embraces a robust offering of musical experiences.”

SVVSD schools offer a variety of music options. Twelve of the schools in the district have mariachi bands and four include a unified ensemble band. Several schools host unique options such as the pops orchestra at Altona and Erie middle schools, a music festival held by the third through fifth grade choir programs and bucket drumming.

This year second-grade students from Columbine Elementary presented a living storybook to parents. The students created the narration, instrument accompaniment and acting and dancing while a teacher read the story.

These are only a few of the programs offered throughout the district.
