The fireworks show for the Fourth of July in Longmont has been at tradition taken on by the Skyline Kiwanis. For the past two years, the show has been held at the Fox Hill Club. Prior to that, it was held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. For the 2024, the show has moved again.

This year the Kiwanis have worked with the city of Longmont to launch the fireworks show from the Longmont Fire Training Center at First Avenue and Martin Street. This decision was made after much debate from the Longmont City Council on which location they would permit the show to take place due to concerns of people trampling the natural vegetation at Dicken Nature Area, located near the training center.

The show is expected to begin at dusk on July 4.

Each year Longmont Public Safety receives many calls concerning fireworks being launched in the neighborhoods. To try to encourage people from lighting illegal fireworks the city decided to host a community event.

The city is partnering with several businesses, including Wibby Brewing, to host the community gathering at Second Avenue and Emery Street on July 4.

The event will include a beer garden with several breweries in attendance, kid rides and carnival games. Food trucks will also be in the area.

The Longmont Symphony will play its annual show at the community event. This show is usually held at Thompson Park, however, construction on the park forced the concert to move.

The streets around Wibby’s will be closed to expand the event. The fireworks show will be visible from the event.

The Skyline Kiwanis are looking for sponsors for the fireworks show. Those interested should contact Kyle Snyder at [email protected] or by phone at 720-534-8355, Joe Bennel at 303-210-1477 or Scott Nix at 303-775-1216. Donations are also accepted here.
