Grant assists new and expanding startup businesses in Longmont

The Longmont Economic Development Partnership (EDP) awarded Sadhana Beads LLC a $2,968 grant as part of the Advance Longmont Startup Grant program to assist local startups that have been in businesses less than two years.

Sadhana Beads LLC, located at 1840 Delaware Place in the TinkerMill building, is a team of dedicated artists and jewelers exemplifying the strength of Boulder County’s and Longmont’s Creative Arts & Culinary sector. A women-run business, Sadhana Beads meticulously crafts beautiful pieces of jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets. They are working to break in to the yoga and meditation markets, as their beads have a connection to the mind, body, and spirit.

“Sadhana Beads LLC is a Longmont startup which produces handmade meditation necklaces and teaches courses on meditation to help women reduce stress and increase wellbeing,” commented owner Rachel Zelaya in a prepared statement

Rachel Zelaya, Owner and Lynne Davis, Jeweler - Sadhana Beads LLC

"We are a women-run business which employs local women jewelers who work out of the TinkerMill makerspace. The Advance Longmont Startup Grant will help us to purchase the materials to make more necklaces, pay our jewelers to make them, fund the completion of our website, and purchase a high-quality sign to use at yoga festivals, arts fairs, and other events where we'll be selling our necklaces.”

The Advance Longmont Startup Grant is designed to support Longmont’s startup businesses in their launch efforts. Informed by the goals of both the Advance Longmont economic development strategy and Envision Longmont master plan, the Advance Longmont Startup Grant program provides funding to local startups that have been in business less than two years to assist with the cost of permitting and licensing, regulatory compliance, equipment purchases and other startup associated costs. This program reimburses eligible expenses, up to the preapproved grant amount, for projects that submit an application and meet all of the criteria of the grant program. Funded by the City of Longmont, the Advance Longmont Startup Grant awards up to $3,000 to startups that have launched or will launch in Longmont. More information about the

Longmont Economic Development Partnership and all grant programs, including their respective applications can be found on the Longmont Economic Development Partnership website at www.longmont.org.
