Local veterinarians donate their time each year to ensure that the animals entered in the Boulder County Fair remain healthy.

"The intention is for only healthy animals to be exhibited so any entries going on to the Colorado State Fair do not have to worry about their animal getting sick from participation at the county fair," states a press release.

This year, veterinarians who have committed their time to examining animals include: Dr. Tom Rea, Dr. Tom Pryor, Dr. Don Owen, Dr. Jess Johnson, Dr. Kathy Gagliardi, Dr. John Flinchum, Dr. Steve Benscheidt and Dr. Karen McCormick.

According to the press release, Dr. Don Owen has been involved with the Boulder County Fair for over 50 years and Dr. Karen McCormick won the preliminary election and is in the running for Congress from the 4th congressional district.

Both of these veterinarians will volunteer their time on Wednesday, August 8 and will examine cattle from 8-10 a.m.

The Boulder County Fair runs August 3-12. For more information visit their website.
