Longmont Hosts Colorado’s Largest Day of The Dead Celebration, Friday-Saturday, October 12-13, 2018, Friday 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m.

Longmont’s annual Día de los Muertos celebration is the largest in the state of Colorado; the exhibition and family celebration at the Longmont Museum alone attracts more than 6,000 people from across the region. So come out this weekend for this memorable event at the Longmont Museum, Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.

A Boulder County Juried Art Show, Friday, October 12, 2018, 5 p.m.

Boulder County Parks & Open Space will host an exhibit of selected en plein air artwork featuring county open space lands at The Great Frame Up this weekend. It’ll be an exhibit to remember.

Catrina Painting Day, Saturday, October 13, 2018, 10 a.m.

Calavera Catrina – a sort of female, skeletal version of the Grim Reaper. Her image was created by Mexican illustrator José Guadalupe Posada around 1910 and remains a central figure in Mexico’s cultural identity. All ages are invited to join the Firehouse Art Center in celebrating Dia de Los Muertos with community painting of Catrina's for our South Gallery Exhibition. All materials for this activity are provided along with food and snacks.

Cool Cat Bash, Saturday, October 13, 2018, 1 p.m.

Calling all Cool Cats! 300 Suns Brewing and The Hop are teaming up again to put on another great event to women-owned businesses while raising money for a great cause in our community. Boulder County Junior and Senior Team Fishing, Saturday, Oct. 13, 9 a.m.-noon

Boulder County, Colorado - Boulder County Parks & Open Space staff will host the annual Junior and Senior Team Fishing Derby at the Wally Toevs Pond at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat on 75th Street between Jay Road and Valmont in Boulder.

At this derby, each team must have one senior, 64 years old or older, and one junior, 15 years old or younger. Prizes are awarded for the team that catches the heaviest trout, has the largest age difference, and are first to catch the limit.

Event is free, but seniors must have a valid Colorado fishing license.
