Saturday Creativity Art Workshop - Drawing a Still Life

  • Time: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Location: Contemplative Art, 1515 Main St. Ste. 201

One Saturday of every month, students gather at my studio to study a creative perspective through drawing with oil pastels. Whether you are drawing realistically or abstractly these workshops will help you develop your creative skill.

This workshop is for all levels of artistic expression from beginner to intermediate to professional artists.

Starting in January, we choose a different artistic perspective to investigate each month. Some Saturdays we will concentrate on expanding our understanding of color theory, other months we will spend time fine tuning our composition elements and a few times a year we will look at traditional ways of learning to refine our creative expression.

You can pick and choose which workshop will help you expand your creative expression.

No art experience is necessary to enjoy this workshop.

There are two art sessions. One in the morning at 10 am.
Then we break for lunch together at a local restaurant and build community.
The second session begins after lunch until 3 pm.

Cost for Workshop: $72

Boxes of Oil Pastels can be purchased for $10 or, bring your own oil pastels

Saturday, November 16
Creating Your Personal Style
If you have never drawn a Still Life, this workshop is a safe place to try and then in the afternoon we will abstract the Still Life, so you have two experiences of drawing the same images realistically and abstractly.
Session 1: Drawing a Still Life
Session 2: Abstracting a Still Life

At the end of the day you will have completed at least two oil pastel drawings.

Books & Brews

  • Time: 2-3 p.m.
  • Location: Collision Brewing Company, 1436 Skyway Dr.

Ever wondered what kind of beer a good mystery novel might taste like? Reading a book you'd love to pair with the flavors of summer?

Come join our librarians as we delve into what good books taste like, the literary qualities of beer, and give your inner bookworm AND your taste buds something new to explore!

This is not a book club in the traditional sense: we are interested in the way beer can highlight the reading experience, and vice versa. As a discussion group of book and/or brew enthusiasts, we highly encourage attendees to bring their knowledge of favorite books and brews and share with others!

This session we welcome a speaker, Dan Rabin, an award-winning beer and travel journalist and longtime Boulder resident who will speak about his travels and the beer industry in Colorado.

Come have fun with us at Collision Brewing Company, 1436 Skyway Dr., Longmont.

This is a new quarterly series - watch for it at brew pubs around town!

This program is for those 21 and older, no registration is required, and absolutely no purchase is necessary to play! Just bring yourself, your friends, and your inner book worm!
