Here are some things to note about fireworks in Longmont:

  • If your fireworks go up, then so does the price. Any fireworks that leave the ground or explode are illegal in Longmont.
  • Legal fireworks, such as sparklers, snakes, and fountains, are permitted on private property only.
  • Fireworks of any kind are not permitted on Longmont city streets, parks, golf courses, etc.
  • Firework stands within the city limits of Longmont sell legal fireworks usable in Longmont.
  • Fines for use of illegal fireworks are up to $500 and/or 90 days in jail.
  • Longmont Police and Fire will work diligently to keep neighborhoods safe and ticket those who are not in compliance.

"Every year the Longmont Department of Public Safety receives hundreds of fireworks complaints. We are asking you to please be considerate of your neighbors and follow the law. Remember, fireworks can trigger symptoms of post-traumatic stress in our combat veterans, and stress and terrify your neighbor's animals. The Longmont Department of Public Safety would encourage you to attend the annual fireworks show at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. This is always a great show and a much safer way to enjoy the day," states Longmont Public Safety.

The annual Longmont fireworks show takes place at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, located at 9595 Nelson Rd. The show begins at 9:30 p.m. on July 4th. The show is free and open to the public. No parking is permitted at the fairgrounds.
