18-year-old O’Brien grew up in Fort Collins and is now a student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, in addition to recently starting her online e-commerce brand Molly Elizabeth Designs LLC. She will share some of her clothing designs from the popular Lifetime television series and present her journey as a young fashion designer while answering attendee’s questions at this unique fashion experience.

On Project Runway Junior, O’Brien was given the opportunity to expand her industry networks and received mentoring from fashion icon Tim Gunn, Sports Illustrated Model Hannah Jeter, Fashion Critic and Designer Kelly Osbourne, CFDA Luxury Designer Christian Siriano and Executive Fashion Director of Seventeen and Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Aya Kanai. She came in sixth place out of twelve contestants.

O’Brien began sewing around the age of 8 and by 15, she was showing her first collection on the runways of Omaha and at Kansas City Fashion Week. Since her television appearance, she has been featured in Seventeen Magazine, and made an appearance on the Harry Connick Jr. Show. In February 2017, she showcased her collection on the nation’s largest runway at the Fall/Winter New York Fashion Week. She also won first place in the 2017 Young Entrepreneurship Tournament with her business plan for Molly Elizabeth Designs LLC.

Molly O’Brien’s design expertise continues past the runway, as she has experience in all sectors of the fashion industry from modeling, web design, merchandising and marketing to runway-show production, model casting and judging. In her free time, Molly enjoys photography, shopping, hanging out with friends, traveling and speaking to youth about the importance of doing what you love, finding your passion and taking that passion and running with it; it’s all about dreaming big.
