On Friday, August 24, join us for a night of Salsa dancing at The Wild Game, located at 2251 Ken Pratt Blvd.

Ticket prices are as follows:

  • $10 - includes professional dance instruction and entry to the dance party
  • $5 - includes entry to the dance party

The professional lesson begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the dance party at 7:30 p.m.

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy Accepting Applications

The Boulder County Sheriff's office is accepting application for their Citizens' Academy now through September 13, 2018.

According to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriff's office, "Participants will receive information on different aspects of law enforcement work in a class room setting, as well as having several hands-on learning opportunities. This is a chance to gain a better understanding of the role law enforcement plays in our community."

The meeting dates for the academy are Thursday evenings beginning September 27, 2018 through March 28, 2019. The program will break during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Citizens participating in the academy can expect to learn more about the following topics:

  • Patrol
  • Criminal and death investigations
  • Emergency management
  • Identity theft and forensic computer investigations
  • Demonstrations including K9, SWAT and bomb disposal
  • Hands-on training including defensive tactics and tactical decision making
  • Tours of the Communications Center and Jail

The class size is limited to 25 students. Applicants must be 18 years old or older. "Individuals with prior felony convictions or a misdemeanor conviction within the past year are excluded from participation," states the press release.

Application must be submitted to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. There is a $30.00 fee which covers an academy polo shirt and classroom materials. Applications and additional information can be found on the Sheriff’s Office website.
