Written by Valerie Sexton: Julie Benoit and Stephanie Sterling are the creative duo behind Main Street’s newest shop, Maker General. The two Baltimore transplants were inspired to open the shop after years of toying with the idea of opening some kind of creative space. The stars seemed to align earlier this year when their friends, the owners of Yore, moved to be closer to family. Julie and Stephanie were able to take over the space and make it their own.
As Julie explains, the vision behind Maker General is to be a “general store for makers who are working with fibers.” It is a space where anyone can come in and learn to create their own fiber projects, even if they have never worked with fibers. You can buy a DIY kit for making your own clothing or textile planters, for example. They also offer classes, ranging from the basics of sewing to classes for “confident beginners”.

Written by Macie May: Intercambio Uniting Communities is now selling tickets for their 17th Annual La Fiesta World Party. The event will take place on Saturday, September 8th from 6:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.
Tickets are available for purchase at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3539866. Children 12 and under are $5 and general admission is $25.
The theme for the event is underwater and will feature, live music, a kids' zone, food trucks and a World Market.
The bands scheduled to play are Soul School, Basilon Lagunero & Quemando, Mokomba, Bateria Alegria and Ginga.
Guests are also invited to, "bring your "underwater" costume or favorite party outfit" to the event, as stated in the press release.
