Morning Brief: Longmont Public Safety Seeks Information on Target Arson Suspect

Longmont Public Safety is seeking help from the community for any information concerning a man suspected of setting the fire in the Longmont Target store on June 18.

According to Commander Joel Post, "at this point we can only determine this person has a thin build and appears to be Caucasian."

On Monday, July 2, Longmont Public Safety sent out the following press release, which includes information about whom to contact with leads on this suspect:

Officers and Firefighters responded to the Target store located at 551 S. Hover Street at 3:45 am on June 18, to a reported fire inside the store. Upon entering the store they saw a significant amount of smoke inside. Their initial assessment was that the fire sprinkler system largely controlled the fire. The remaining fire was extinguished.

There is an undetermined amount of damage. The store is closed and will remain closed for an undetermined length of time.

The fire, which was started in the south-west corner of the Target store, was intentionally set. The Longmont DPS investigators are working with Target staff, and continue to investigate the arson. They are seeking any information regarding possible suspects. These are surveillance photos of the suspect in this arson.

Target Expected to Open Friday, July 6

After a fire was set in the Longmont Target store on June 18, the store is expected to open its doors by the end of the week.

According to a phone call with Target's corporate office, "the Longmont Target store is expected to reopen on Friday, July 6 for normal business hours."

Open Door Brewing Closes Taproom Doors

On Friday, June 29, Open Door Brewing said farewell to its fans with one final keg party in its taproom. According to Billy McDivitt, owner of Open Door Brewing, "just the taproom is closed, we'll still be distributing for the time being."

McDivitt would also like to, "thank all our fans" and to let them know to, "keep an eye on our Facebook page for news about where we'll be at fests and other locations in the near future."

As of now there is a list of past places where Open Door has distributed in the past, however, that list is not current. McDivitt states that he will, "update that as we move forward."

McDivitt and his staff moved out of the ODBC Galactic Headquarters, located at 2030 Ionosphere St. Unit G, Longmont on Saturday, June 30.
