Morning Brief: Aviation Support License Plates Available August 6

These Support Colorado Aviation license plates can be purchased at the DMV beginning August 6.

"The fee for the plate will be $50, the standard for a special group plate in Colorado, $25 to cover DMV Fees and $25 to cover the Highway User Tax Fund. There are no special requirement to order the plate, simply let the DMV know you would like the Support Colorado Aviation special group plate," states the Tweet.

Intercambio Seeks Volunteers

Written by Macie May: Intercambio is seeking 84 volunteers from the Longmont, Lafayette and Boulder areas to participate in their Conversation Team Activity.

The Conversation Team Activity is, "several one-on-one dialogues in a "conversation rotation" format with our adult English learners," states an announcement on Intercambio's twitter account.

Upcoming Conversation Team Activity events are scheduled for July 19, 26 and 30. To learn more and to register as a volunteer visit http://intercambio.org/Events.

In addition to seeking volunteers Intercambio will be hosting a one hour Behind the Scenes at Intercambio event. According to their website the topics will include "exciting changes to Intercambio, our national impact and why we believe so deeply in our work."

Receive Text Message Notifications From Longmont Public Library

Written by Macie May: The Longmont Pubic Library is now using Shoutbomb to send its patrons text notifications. This system allows users to:

  • renew items
  • get notices of available holds
  • see overdue items and fees

Signing up for the program is free of charge although standard text rates apply. Although a smart phone is not required to use the program, users must have a phone that is able to send and receive text messages and be able to text to an email address.

The following are instructions found on the Longmont Public Library's website on how to sign up for the text program and how to manage your notifications:

  1. Text SIGNUP+your library card number to 1-720-893-9151. (To receive your messages in Spanish, use REGISTRESE instead of SIGNUP.) Be sure to type the keyword in all CAPS.
  2. After a successful registration, you will receive three messages:
  • Message congratulating you on registering and informing you of the ADDCARD keyword function;
  • Message indicating which of the available services are active or inactive; and
  • Message informing you of the MYBOOKS keyword function.

If at any point you get stuck, please send a text message with the keywords HELP then a space SIGNUP. You will receive detailed instructions on how the process works.

How to Select Which Notices to Receive:

  1. Text NOTICES to view your current status of all the opt in/out notices.
  2. The following notices are all ON by default. You do not have to do anything further to receive them. To turn off a notice, text the keyword that is in CAPS to 1-720-893-9151 (this is the same number you used to sign up). Text the keyword again to turn the notice back on. Be sure to text keywords in all CAPS
  • HOLDS: This is a notice that you have holds ready to be picked up.
  • OVERDUE: This is a notice that things are already overdue.
  • RENEW: This is a notice that things will soon be due, and you can renew them.
