On February 27, a #MeToo movement will take place at the Boulder County Campus of Front Range Community College (FRCC). The movement "be interviewing, and honoring, victims of sexual harassment and/or assault in this years cross disciplinary project, Reconstructing the Past," according to a press release by FRCC.
People willing to be interviewed will be asked to "describe moments of sexual harassment they have faced as part of their professional lives. Specifically, we are interested in stories of how women have faced and overcome these dehumanizing moments. The idea is to highlight the struggles women face in their careers and in their lives and showcase the strength of women in overcoming these obstacles."
Students will chronicle and exhibit the interviews in a multimedia art display, using elements from the visual arts, writing, performance, and sound.
Interviews will begin at 12:45 p.m., ending by 2:15 p.m. A pseudonym may be used on works displayed in public upon request.
The art created at this event will have two openings. The first will be Friday, April 20 at 5 p.m. at Front Range Community College. A local slam poet, Megan Falley, will be present to perform poems related to the nationwide #MeToo movement. The second opening will be on May 3, at 5 p.m. at the Firehouse Art Center. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the art openings.
