Longmont Public Media Adds Powerful Video/Audio Editing Capabilities, Open To The Public

Longmont Public Media (LPM) is our city's new Public Access, Education, and Government video services provider and Media Makerspace.

LPM has available to its members, and the public, several video/audio editing bays at its downtown location at 457 4th Ave (the old Carnegie library building).

These video editing bays are configured with the latest hardware and professional editing software from Adobe and Apple. More services such as video and audio recording equipment, studio space, live show space and capabilities, recording studio space, classes on how to create media as well as video/production services will be coming online in the coming weeks and months.

LPM began operations on January 1st, 2020, and manages the operations of Channel 8 on the Comcast cable system including the recording, broadcasting and archiving of government and civic events such as City Council meetings, School Board meetings, Boards and Commission meetings and other City of Longmont events and activities of interest to our community.

In addition, LPM provides access to Longmont residents who want to get creative with media by producing videos and audio (such as podcasts as well as music) content using the resources available at LPM. This includes studios, recording and editing equipment and the ability to broadcast productions on Channel 8 as well as LPM's live internet feed and on YouTube, Facebook and other platforms.

Additional access is provided to supporting members of the LPM Makerspace such as 24 hour access, discounted classes and services, the ability to book, in advance, equipment, studio space and other resources as they become available. Memberships are available at several levels including starving artists, regular members, families and organizations. We are also currently recruiting Founding Members until October of 2020. Content created by LPM is available to the general public under a Creative Common's 4.0 license and can be used, reused and remixed as desired. It is also available to media organizations for use in their media creation (subject to CC 4.0 attribution).

General access is open to the public during business hours.

Tours are available every Saturday starting at noon and ending at 2pm. If you find LPM interesting, you're encouraged to visit Longmont's other makerspace: TinkerMill. They have tours every Sunday starting at 2pm.

You can also come to LPM's open to the public member meeting every Thursday night at 7pm to learn more about what's happening and meet other local folks interested in media of all types.
