The Longmont Observer is holding regular meetings on Thursday nights for community members interested in helping develop a robust public access media center.

Meetings are held on Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. Due to increased interest we are moving the meetings to La Vita Bella's Renaissance Room, 471 Main St.

These meetings are for anyone interested in helping us design and build the new public access media.

What does that mean?

Do you have skills in media? If yes, we could use you to help design studios, create programming, or even teach others how to do what you do.

Are you interested in other areas such as business development, grant writing, web design, choosing software to help with daily needs, organizational skills, marketing, advertising, social media development? The list is limitless! If a business needs it, so do we.

The point is that there is a place for everyone to help.

What kinds of media?

If you can dream it, we want to add it to our makerspace. This would include video, podcasts, writing, radio, and photography to start. But please don’t let that limit you. If you want to see it please help us build it. This could include graphic art, video games, software, various arts, theatre, dance, truly this is limited by your skills and creativity.

What if I don’t have media skills but I would like to learn?

You are still a perfect fit! We need people who are willing to learn how to do things too. You will be able to help design classes with the student in mind and keep us thinking about the best way to serve all members of our community.

Who should attend?

The Longmont Observer wants to create a place where all community members feel welcome, from people who have no experience to professionals. We want to create a culture that welcomes people of all identities and abilities to join us to create something truly unique and special. This can only be done by a representation of all people. Everyone is welcome.

What is expected of me at the meetings?

Nothing! We hope you join us and contribute your ideas, but if you feel better just sitting in and listening, you are welcome to do that too.

We hope to see you at our Thursday night meetings.
