Longmont Day of the Dead Altar Tour

During Downtown Longmont’s 2nd Friday event on October 13, the Creative District will host guided altar tours for a taste of Día de los Muertos, Longmont style! 

Groups will start with a guided walking tour of five featured downtown business altars. Tour guides will share the history, traditions, and local adaptation of this Central American holiday that is spreading worldwide. After the walking tour, groups hop on the Brewhop trolley for a round-trip visit the Longmont Museum to see their signature display of gigantes and altars created by local artists.

Guided altar tours will depart at 5, 6, and 7 pm. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 on the night of the tour, space permitting. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged, and tickets are still available at www.downtownlongmont.com. Space is limited!

Nearly 30 downtown businesses will have altars on display starting 2nd Friday, October 13th through Friday, November 3rd. A free map for self-guided tours of participating business altars is available for download at www.downtownlongmont.com or hard copies are available at many downtown businesses, while supplies last. As with every 2nd Friday, there will be sales, specials, promotions, live entertainment and artwork on display throughout downtown.
