Left Hand Artist Group (LHAG) is launching a 45-day Kickstarter campaign titled “LHAG Community Art Center” on Sunday, September 9. They hope to raise a minimum of $50,000 to invest in a new home for the group.

Since their inception in Fall of 2013, the Left Hand Artist Group has met at Left Hand Brewing Co. With nearly 1,700 members, the "group’s growth has made it necessary for us to leave the cocoon and fly on our own," states Tony Kindlespire, member of LHAG.

LHAG views themselves as representatives of "the many colors of the art world, including visual artists, musicians, multi-media creators, poets, filmmakers and those gifted in culinary arts," says Kindlespire. With this in mind, the group is looking for a space to support all these arts and more.

Their ideal space would support room for them to store the art of the artists in the group as well as a separate space to create art. In order to sustain themselves, LHAG wants a new home that will be large enough to host events such as concerts, art shows, fundraisers as well as renting the facility for personal events.

After LHAG has met their goal of obtaining their own space, the group plans to form a board of directors and work towards gaining a nonprofit status. "We’re already holding elections for an interim board that will guide us through the next six months and drive our search for a new space," announces Kindlespire.

LHAG is hosting a “Kickstarter Kickoff Party" on Sunday, September 2 at noon in the Left Hand Brewing Co. warehouse, 1270 Boston Ave. The party will feature the group's regular monthly meeting, followed by a live music jam and potluck. The group will also be viewing their Kickstarter video.
