LONGMONT, Colo. - The humble sugar beet has a long and storied history in Longmont, responsible for much of the City's early growth. Silver Creek High School student, Emma Lilly, has turned that history into an entertaining and engaging new picture book for children. The Magic Sugar Beet: Exploring the History of the Longmont Sugar Beet Factory is part of Ms. Lilly's capstone project, a requirement of her participation in Silver Creek's Leadership Academy. She will be debuting her book at the Library during two storytime sessions, 10:15 and 11 am, on Wednesday, April 25. Ms. Lilly will read her book, followed by crafts, refreshments, and a book signing. No registration is required for this event. Head to the Library and support this young author/illustrator!
