Firehouse Art Center Seeks Photos For Dia de los Muertos Exhibit

Each year the Firehouse Art Center celebrates the long-standing tradition of Dia De Los Muertos in an attempt to "immerse and educate the community with the tradition and themes of Dia De Los Muertos celebrated throughout Mexico and Latin America annually," states a press release.

This year's theme is "ancestors."

The Firehouse Art Center is asking Longmont residents to submit framed photographs, no larger than 11x14 inches to be displayed in the exhibit.

Guidelines for submission:

  • Photos must be of loved ones who have passed on
  • Photos must be framed and no larger than 11x14 inches
  • Contributor info – Name, Address, Phone, and Email
  • Portrait info – Names of depicted ancestors, dimensions, date of image (estimates are ok)

Submissions will be accepted on October 5 and 6 from 12-5 p.m. at the Firehouse Art Center, 667 4th Ave. or can be sent to [email protected].

The exhibit will run from October 9 through November 3 and will also feature traditional altars and community Catrina paintings.
