Linda Bueno is excited about her family’s Dulceria Bombon store moving just a few months ago from the Marketplace on Longmont’s Main Street to a much larger location at 249 Main Street, just south of 3rd Avenue on the west side.

It’s still a family operation, open 7 days a week, with everyone pitching in to make sure that every hour is covered until 7:00 most evenings. Walking into the spacious new store offers a sensory overload – colorful pinatas hanging from the high ceiling and stacked around the walls, and the family has even brought the life-size “singing Santa Claus” with them from the old location.

Most of the Dulceria Bombon business is designing, making and selling pinatas. All sizes are available, from the small 12 inch ones strung over the store countertop, to very large animals, stars, cartoon characters, and even a tank.

Son Brian was not sure who would buy a pinata in the form of a tank but has no doubt that it will suit some young birthday boy or girl.

Pinatas can be proposed and designed by the purchaser, and then the order is carried or sent to Bombon's exclusive small manufacturer in Mexico. So just let Bombon know if you want a blue donkey, a yellow sheep or a pink princess, and they will come up with exactly what you need in a week to ten days.  The store also stocks fancy, decorated pinata sticks, as well as the more prosaic kind.

Of course, the most important aspect of the pinata tradition is what is released when it is whacked and battered by excited juveniles. And Bombom can supply. If you thought that Hallloween candy was all-encompassing, you need to visit Dulceria Bonbon and look at the shelves packed with Mexican candy bags of all sizes on shelf after shelf. Like everything else in the store, the candy is all Mexican, imported specially for Bombon.

As well as their amazing pinata business, Dulceria Bombon helps cater for special occasions in a more stylish fashion.  Bueno is a first-class baker and several of her more elaborate cakes are on display. Again, if a bride or a quinceañera and her madrina has a special request for the color, style or size of the cake, she can sit down and discuss it with Bueno, who will create it. Bombon will also create table centerpieces for formal occasions.

Whether you need help in planning and creating a special occasion in a truly Mexican style, or just have a hankering for some Chupa Chups, Camoy, or Cajeta candy, the family at Dulceria Bombon will be very happy to help you and make sure you have a genuinely Mexican experience.
