Centennial State Ballet (CSB) will perform The Sleeping Beauty on April 21 and 22 at Niwot High School Auditorium, 8989 Niwot Rd., completing their 20th season. This is the group's 2018 Spring Gala Performance which features their academy and pre-professional students along with guest artists and accompaniment by a live orchestra.

The Sleeping Beauty is the beloved story of Princess Aurora, who is doomed to fall into a never-ending sleep as a result of a jealous fairy’s rage, until her fairy godmother and one true love awaken her. Fairy tale characters of the kingdom celebrate the wedding as the Lilac Fairy and her cortege give their blessing for a happy life to the bride and groom!

This ballet is a prologue and three acts which was first performed in 1890. The music was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky who also composed Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. This is Tchaikovsky’s longest ballet, so CSB is also offering a performance for its youngest fans.

There will be a Ballet Petit featuring The Sleeping Beauty performance on Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. This shorter, narrated version of the spring gala performance is perfect for younger audience members. There will also be an opportunity to meet and take a souvenir photo with the characters after the show.

Performances of The Sleeping Beauty will be held on Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. and on Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m. at the Niwot High School Auditorium, 8989 Niwot Rd. Tickets are $17/Student & Seniors and $22/Adults. Tickets for the Ballet Petit of The Sleeping Beauty beginning at 11 a.m. on April 21 are $20/person. For more information on the Centennial State Ballet or to purchase tickets, visit centennialstateballet.org or call (303) 772-1335.

The Sleeping Beauty is the final performance of the 2017-18 season for the organization. The mission of Centennial State Ballet is to provide live ballet performances for the community. CSB maintains operations as a non-profit organization via local business sponsors and individual donors, ticket sales from performances, and various fundraisers throughout the year.
