LONGMONT, Colo. – The popular merging of dance and storytelling continues this spring as the Centennial State Ballet Company returns to the Longmont Public Library for two special programs.  On Wednesday, April 4, from 10:15 to 10:45 am, library patrons age 7 and younger and their caregivers will be treated to a special storytime hosted by a Centennial State ballerina. She’ll read stories related to dance and movement and share experiences of what it’s like to be a real ballerina.  She’ll even bring her pointe shoes for show and tell! No registration is required for this program, so bring the whole neighborhood.

Later that week, in a storytime on Saturday, April 7, from 11 am to 12 pm, the ballet company will perform an excerpt from its full-length ballet, “Sleeping Beauty.” This family-friendly version of the classic ballet is presented in honor of the Centennial State Ballet’s 20th anniversary and is a terrific opportunity to introduce young children to the beauty of ballet as storytelling.  After the program, there will be photo opportunities with the dancers. Registration is required for this storytime and can be accomplished online at http://bit.ly/LibStories.  No email address or internet?  Call (303) 651-8477 to register.
