On Tuesday evening, Longmont City Council proclaimed April 2018 as 'Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month' in Longmont.

Tom Hubner, a member of the Longmont Parkison's support group, attended the Council meeting to accept the proclamation.

"Thank you, Bagley, and members of Council for your continuing support," said Hubner.

According to city council communication, "there are more than one million people in the United States with Parkinson’s disease, and approximately 17,000 Coloradans are living with the disease."

"It's something that is very important that we look at. It's not just a minor inconvenience," said Hubner.

City council communication also stated that "the Longmont support group has almost 80 members, including people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers and distributes a newsletter to more than 120 people in four states."
