Accel at Longmont raised the American flag over their facility for the first time on Tuesday, July 10th, in a ceremony celebrating the flag and all those who have served.

Accel at Longmont is a "skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Longmont," states a press release.

George Hawthorne, 93 year old World War II Navy Veteran and Accel at Longmont resident, and Joe McBride, maintenance director at Accel at Longmont, worked together to get "the new flag pole approved and installed," states the press release.

"It's just so important that we have a flag. It represents a wonderful country and I am just proud to have one here," says Hawthorne.

Carly Bader, Accel at Longmont Administrator says, "I am very excited to be able to honor our flag and our Veterans that are here now, and coming in the future, at Accel At Longmont. There is no greater honor than serving those who have served our country."

Hawthorne was a guest of honor at the ceremony and was recognized for his service along with Anthony “Toni” Pecone; Korean War Vet, Arthur “Art” Wartburg; WWI and Korean War Veteran and Teofil “Teo” Kheim; Foreign Military Veteran. The last three were not in attendance.

The ceremony included a performance of the National Anthem by David Dahlem, CNA at Accel at Longmont with a flute accompaniment by Ashlei Reeder, business office manager.

Accel at Longmont hosted its grand opening celebraion and ribbon cutting on June 5, 2018, and is located at 1960 S. Fordham Street.
