The Friday 'informal' City Council session started at 8:30 am sharp.

Councilmember Peck was not present.  All other Councilmembers attended.

Mayor Bagley announced at the opening of the meeting he'll need to leave 30 minutes in for another city meeting.

A report was given from the Longmont Housing Authority people on candidates for a new Executive Director.  They are down to three candidates.  They also explained how they need to 'publish those names' of those candidates in the paper which will delay the hiring of the new ED.

They discussed Meth testing of various LHA housing and how it's a problem for the entire region, not just LHA and Longmont.

Mayor Bagley, who sits on the Platte River Power Authority board talked about Xcel pulling out of the Southwest Power Pool due primarily to cost. This has thrown things 'for a loop' according to Mayor Bagley.  Negotiations continue with Xcel.

Councilmember Marcia Martin brought up the 100% renewable by 2030 issue.  She asked if we're restricting plans to stay with renewables only. Bagley said Xcel was limited to 55% by 2030 and that we're still focused on doing all the other renewable approaches.

Martin and Bagley discussed what the various options are and how that might move forward.

Harold Dominguez, City Manager, talked about wind power in his last job in Texas and how they had the same issues around power transmission.  It's like pushing water from a fire hose to a garden hose. A lack of transmission capabilities causes most of the issues.

Each of the Councilmembers went around the table and talked about the various planning boards and commissions they're responsible for.

The meeting ended at approximately  10:30am.
