Values with Shakeel: In this interview with Marc Cowell, Executive Director of Our Center, Marc and Shakeel discuss how OUR Center has adapted its mission to changing conditions during the Coronavirus outbreak.
OUR Center has moved access to its food pantry and hot meal service outdoors to comply with the social distancing requirements needed to contain communication of the novel coronavirus.
It faces many logistical challenges, beginning with the fact that over half its volunteers are retirees in the demographic most vulnerable to the virus. These volunteers, naturally, are temporarily unable to do their usual jobs. Many sources for in-kind and money donations are interrupted, too.
Watch Marc and Shakeel talk about the creative solutions OUR Center has put in place. If you are experiencing food insecurity, know that OUR Center has relaxed its regular rules for Coordinated Entry and will serve anyone with a need during this crisis. If you can, sign up here to volunteer or donate to OUR Center.
