After nearly 13 years of business, owners Paul and Pam Roberts said many heartfelt goodbyes during the final hours of their Prospect diner.

The Roberts were living in California and wanted to explore the idea of opening a new restaurant elsewhere. They looked in Oregon, New Mexico, and Colorado.

The couple visited the Prospect part of Longmont and fell in love with the area. They bought a home there along with opening two businesses, House Gifts and Decor and Two Dog Diner.

Two Dog Diner was the first diner Paul had ever run, after having several restaurants on the West Coast.

Over the years, the Roberts have watched many children and families grow right in the Prospect area.

"It's been such an honor being a part of Longmont and being in the Prospect community. I haven't been here long, I, myself have only been here 17 years, but I have some real deep roots with some friends here. I have been able to raise, for the most part, my kids here. I love Longmont as a community and Prospect as a neighborhood. I'm going to miss them like crazy."

The Roberts plan to retire and move back to California. They recently welcomed their first granddaughter and are excited for the opportunity to see her grow.

While sitting in the diner, for only a few minutes, it was apparent that the Longmont community will miss Paul and the Two Dog Diner. Custumers poured in through the door and despite the diner having run out of their favorite dishes, patrons were grateful for the chance to say their final goodbyes.

With feelings that were bittersweet, Paul closed the doors of Two Dog Diner for the last time at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 3. He says that he was emotional then entire day, however, is excited to see where his next adventure takes him and his family.
