President Trump will open the government until February 15th.

This will end what is now a record 35-day shutdown.

Trump said that he may declare a national emergency or shut the government down again if Congress doesn't reach an agreement on "wall money" by the February 15th deadline.

The plan does not include any money for the wall.

The administration has promised that federal workers will be compensated for paychecks missed.

The shutdown's effects were becoming more pronounced with air traffic controller shortages causing delays and unsafe flying conditions across the US. Longmont has a large air traffic control center located at Hover and 17th ave. The director of the FBI expressed anger at agents not being paid and IRS workers were calling in sick in record numbers during the busiest tax time of the year.
