According to Colorado Revised Statutes 16-13-901 through 16-13-905, law enforcement agencies are authorized to inform the public when sex offenders register in that community.
The purpose of such postings is to enhance public safety and protection.
According to a press release from the Longmont Police Department, “This law enforcement agency has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may live. Unless court restrictions exist, they are constitutionally free to live wherever they choose. Sex offenders have always lived in our communities, but they were not required to notify law enforcement of their residence until registration laws were implemented pursuant to the Jacob Wetterling Act in 1994. Law enforcement may now share that information with members of their communities, and in the case of sexually violent predators who are subject to community notification, law enforcement mush actively notify citizens.”
On August 13, LPD notified the community of Longmont that Nathaniel Stark registered as living in Longmont. He resides in the 100 block of Lincoln St.
Stark is a 24-year-old male with brown eyes and hair. He is 5’09” tall and around 175 lbs. Identifying marks on his person include: Left Upper Arm – Skull | Left Forearm – Skull inside a bottle | Head – Voodoo doll (behind Right Ear) Pierced Nose, Pierced Lower Lip, Multiple Ear Piercings, and Gauged Ears.
Conditions for his release include no contact with anyone under the age of 18, may only access probation-approved internet-capable devices.
According to the release, Stark is “clear of wants/warrants” and is supervised by Boulder County Probation.
