The July 9th RTD board meeting mostly focused on the North Metro Rail Line N, the buses going to and from those areas, as well as some bus changes in the North Metro area. District I Board Director, Judy Lubow, whose district includes Longmont, did have one of the longest comments of the night on the future of the FasTracks bus alternative and the Northwest Rail Line. Her full comments on the subject can be found at 2:00:26 in the video.

Lubow states, “I think that we need to give this a major, major shot and do everything that we can to try to raise money in creative ways. If we are hitting up against a wall that we just can't beat it, we have to start thinking really about going to our citizens and say, ‘Well, what else can we do to make you whole, if the rail is not going to happen? What can we do?’”

“One additional point I wanted to talk about was the ridership figures for the Northwest Rail which are very low, unfortunately, and they were reduced, of course, after the NAM (Northwest Area Mobility) study because of the Great Recession, and the Great Recession brought down development.”

“But it's been 10 years since the Great Recession. I mean, we're in the great boom, really. I'm just wondering how we get those more realistic figures in based on the reality that we're not in the Great Recession and I think that could really change things in terms of ridership.”
