Enjoy a “Book and Film Tasting” at the Library

Prepare yourself for Wintertime Bingo at the Library, 409 4th Avenue, with new books, films, and genres you may not be familiar with. From 1 to 3 pm on Sunday, January 6, settle in at a “café table” with a display of a genre of book or film and peruse a menu of displayed items along with tips on how to “taste” a book or film. Sample items at any or all tables, and make notes of those you’d like to check out. Enjoy the expertise of a “waiter” (a.k.a librarian) who can suggest, clarify, and recommend similar titles. Light refreshments will be served to whet your palate. No registration required.

Recycle Your Holiday Tree ...

From December 26 through January 6 the City of Longmont provides four satellite Christmas tree drop-off locations: Roosevelt Park – parking lot on the south side of 8th Avenue (by pool), Garden Acres Park – parking lot at 18th Avenue and Tulip Street, Kanemoto Park – parking lot off of S. Pratt Parkway at S. Coffman Street, and Centennial Park – parking lot at Alpine Street and Verdant Circle. Please remove all decorations and light strands. (No metallic paper, ribbons, bows, ornaments, tissue paper, or paper covered in tape.) And from December 26 through January 18, you can recycle your old holiday lights at the Waste Diversion Center. Wrap light strands into a ball and drop in the appropriate container. Please take identification and your most recent City utility bill to show that you’re a City Waste Services customer. For more information about when and where to recycle specific items, ask the Waste Wizard at bit.ly/longmont-wastewizard.
