Written by David Jarvis: On Tuesday night, Longmont City Council voted to make appointments to the 32 board and commission vacancies. The City of Longmont received 54 applications for the 32 open seats and interviews for the appointments were arranged by the city manager office staff and conducted in June.

Of the 54 applicants, two did not qualify for Longmont Downtown Development Authority board, one requested to be withdrawn, and another was not a registered voter in Longmont, according to city council communication.

Below is the list of Board Members that were appointed by the Longmont City Council:

Airport Advisory Board

One (1) unexpired regular member term ending December 31, 2019: Harrison Earl

Art in Public Places Commission

Five (5) regular member terms ending June 30, 2021: Peter Alexander, Robert Glassner, Laurel Alterman, Amy Mann, Frances Parker

One (1) unexpired regular member term ending June 30, 2019: Cynthia Tiger

Board of Adjustment & Appeals

One (1) regular member term ending June 30, 2021: Mark Flower

Board of Environmental Affairs

Three (3) regular member terms ending June 30, 2021: Kate Collardson, Violeta Manoukian

Cable Trust Board

One (1) unexpired regular member term ending June 30, 2020: Phillip Huff

One (1) regular member term ending June 30, 2021: Scott Converse

Downtown Development Authority

OUR Center Seeks Donations for OUR Community Market

Written by Macie May: The OUR Center is seeking donations for their OUR Community Market.

"Our Market serves up to 100 families per day with nutritious food to stretch a household's budget to meet all of their basic needs," states the OUR Center newsletter.

Items needed include:

* Tuna

* Peanut Butter

* Canned fruit in juice

* Low-sugar cereals

* Hearty, low-sodium soups

* Pasta (other than spaghetti)

Food donations are accepted each weekday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the south receiving door of the OUR Center, located at 220 Collyer St., Longmont. If donating on weekends or major holidays donations are accepted through the front door.

Applications Available for HOPE Board of Directors

The organization announced in a newsletter that applications are available to join the HOPE board of directors.

HOPE is looking for members of the community who possess the following characteristics:

•Passion for HOPE’s mission and cause

•Demonstrated interest in Board service

•Some experience in HOPE’s area of service

•Able to attend required meetings

•Demonstrated service to nonprofit community
