On July 18, Longmont responded to a call around 6 p.m. in the 2200 block of Jewel St.

After returning home, the adult female resident was unable to locate her husband and saw blood on the carpet. That is when she notified LPD.

LPD arrived on scene and located the husband to be deceased inside the house and his truck stolen.

Officers on scene notified LPD investigators who discovered the truck at a local storage unit. The investigative team also learned that the suspect was still with the vehicle and contacted SWAT to assist.

SWAT arrested the suspect around 9:30 p.m. on July 18. The suspect was charged with burglary, auto theft, and the murder of the 80-year-old man.

While LPD continues the investigation, no photo of the suspect nor additional information has been released.
