Longmont Public Safety Needs Help Identifying Arsonist

Longmont Police seek public's help to identify man suspected of setting a fire in a local church early this morning.

Longmont Fire responded to a fire alarm at Central Longmont Presbyterian Church around 5:40 a.m. on October 13.

The church is located at 402 Kimbark St.

The fire was contained by the quick response of the fire department as well as the sprinklers located inside the church. However, more than $5,000 worth of damages were caused by the fire.

The church was not occupied at the time of the fire.

Through an investigation, Longmont Fire and Police determined that the fire was caused by an unknown man who broke a window in the church door. The man then started the fire using and accelerant, which was not named by the police in a press release.
