Longmont City Council Decides To Move Forward With City Tax Rebates For Low Income Residents

The City Council went straight to the communications sent to them before the meeting, skipping the presentation, and addressed how to rebate to low-income residents sales tax as well as other city fees.

The City Council went straight to the communications sent to them before the meeting, skipping the presentation, and addressed how to rebate to low-income residents sales tax as well as other city fees.

For utilities, instead of a check-like rebate, the credit would come on utility credit.

SNAP (food stamp) users are eligible for the sales tax rebate, which would be an amount similar to the utility rebate and would be provided via a utility bill credit.

The City Council directed the city staff to proceed with creating the appropriate ordinances.
