On August, 28, EforAll hosted a business pitch contest for local entrepreneurs.
Seventeen entrepreneurs attended the event with six being preselected to give a two-and-a-half-minute pitch for cash prizes.
Submissions included pitches for financial literacy products for elementary school students, adaptive clothing for individuals with disabilities, and platforms to teach children about fire safety.
Pitches were scored on the clarity of idea and the presentation given by the entrepreneur of which they were asked to answer the following questions:
- What was the opportunity that led to the idea?
- Who is the customer/market?
- How will it be sustainable as a business or nonprofit?
- How will the prize money be used?
The event was judged by Elvira Ramos, Marta Loachamin, and Morgan Smith.
The winners included:
- Grand prize ($1,000)- Mini Money Management by Lorne Jenkins of Longmont for an educational program used by teachers to promote financial literacy in schools.
- Second prize ($750)-Kimberly Wren from Denver for adaptive undergarments for individuals with disabilities.
- Third prize ($500)- Chris Willis of Lyons for The Fire Martian, an interactive platform that teaches kids about fire safety.
- Audience Choice ($500)- Nicole Contos of Denver for her startup, MYAs Closets, an online, one-stop shop for adaptive clothing.
EforAll will be hosting another pitch contest on October 10 at CoSolve in Longmont. Applications are currently being accepted.
