This cycle, the Housing and Human Services board is seeking five new board members. Without enough members this board will have a difficult time meeting quorum which will prevent some important business being conducted.

The Housing and Human Services board sets priorities and recommendations to the Longmont City Council in matters such as: how to allocate $2-3 million in affordable housing funding, reviewing the needs of Longmont residents, and making recommendations that align with those needs. Most importantly, serving on the board allows community members a voice in how best to invest the City's resources to meed the residents' most critical needs.

Some of the programs that have been impacted by this board include, recommending funding for over 2,000 affordable rental homes being constructed, acquired, preserved, or maintained, including 500 affordable apartments for seniors. This board also was key in helping the Longmont Mobile Home Park become a resident-owned community. It also funded the The Home Steady Program which provided 44 Longmont residents who were at-risk of losing their housing with financial assistance. These are just a few of many ways the Housing and Human Services board has directly impacted the Longmont community.
