Waters proposed these two draft resolutions

He stated that he had wanted to wait to propose these resolutions until Land Code issues, SES, and the Wildlife Management Plan topics were decided upon. However, since those topics have taken longer than was originally intended, he felt the need to bring these resolutions forward at Tuesday night's city council.

"For me personally, waiting on these two issues, especially the second I'm going to mention, it's more timely that the issue, or my concern is more timely, than the agenda might allow us to get to in a month or two," says Waters.

Waters states that he understands that neither of these resolutions advance solutions on either topic. His hope is to encourage more municipalities to offer up their voices to state and federal governments to try to influence change at those levels.

"My preference on, whether it's health care or it's this issue [gun safety], from the time I came on this council, was to take an approach to issues like this, where I felt like I could make a difference and not just make a statement."

Both resolutions were approved by council to be put on an upcoming agenda.
