The St. Vrain Valley School District open enrollment policy allows parents to apply to a school that is different than their neighborhood school. The open enrollment policy allows students to apply for any school within the St. Vrain Valley School District.
The window for submitting the open enrollment application is December 1-January 16 for the 2018-2019 school year. Important dates to keep in mind for open enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year:
- December 1, 2017 to January 16, 2018: Submit applications
December 1 through January 16 is the period in which applications for open enrollment should be submitted to the requested school.
- February 7, 2018: Deadline to receive application status letter from school
Written status letters from the requested school will be sent to the applicant approving or denying the application by February 7.
- March 1, 2018: Deadline for school visit and open enrollment confirmation
Applicants who have been approved for open enrollment should visit the requested school by March 1 and confirm their desire to open enroll.
Preschool and kindergarten registration windows are opening soon as well.
Kindergarten registration is December 1-January 17. Children enrolling in kindergarten must turn by October 1, 2018. Follow this link to find information on kindergarten registration. Kindergarten classes are offered as AM/PM and full day. Full day classes have tuition and half day are free. Full Day Kindergarten Program Tuition - $295 per month (September – May) $145 non-refundable registration fee due at time of registration (will be applied to September payment). Preschool registration is January 2-12. Students may still enroll for preschool throughout the year until the programs are full. Children must be 3 or 4 years old by October 1, 2018. Here is the information you need to know about preschool enrollment.
There are many reasons parents may want to enroll their students into a different school. The Longmont Observer has assembled a map of the schools in St. Vrain Valley. It includes a list of information to help you make a decision on the school you wish to apply for open enrollment.
Below we provide a key and definitions of the information listed for each school:
Charter: This tells you if the school you have clicked on is a charter school.
Grades: The grade levels that the school serves.
Enrollment: This is the enrollment data provided by the October Count data taken in 2016.
ELA Scores: Scores based on Colorado's standard-based assessments (CSAP/TCAP). Data provided by Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Trends and information are based on 2014 test results.
Math Scores: Scores based on Colorado's standard-based assessments (CSAP/TCAP). Data provided by Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Trends and information are based on 2014 test results.
English Language Learners: This information notes how many students in each school who are considered English Language Learners. Data gathered from the October Count numbers taken in 2016.
Free/Reduced Lunch: Indicates how many students per school are enrolled in the free/reduced lunch program. Data gathered from the October Count numbers taken in 2016.
Special Needs Center-based Program: This indicates if the school has a special needs program. These programs are only accessible through an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

The Longmont Observer strives to provide you with current information. According to Matthew Wiggins, Director of Communications at St. Vrain Valley School District, updated information from October Count should be released in January 2018. Wiggins also states that the CDE should release their current information at that time. As that information is received it will be updated on the school map.
