Flagstaff Academy, a public charter school on the south side of Longmont, every year holds a fundraiser called the "Dragon Dash" where students run or walk laps around the school and for every lap made, they raise a certain amount of monies from parents and others who have committed donations.

"Dragon Dash incorporates all students, teachers, and staff at our school, builds school spirit, promotes the importance of physical fitness, and is an opportunity to raise funds to further enhance the exceptional education offered to our Flagstaff Dragons," says Angela Nechvatal, Flagstaff PTO Dragon Dash Committee Chair. "We strongly believe that a well-rounded approach to health & wellness, as well as an emphasis in science & technology, benefits all of our children."

Students wear a special t-shirt and once they have completed a lap around the school, a volunteer marks off the student's shirt as in this example from last year's dash.
