On August 20, 2019 Boulder County District Attorney, Michael Dougherty announced that he joined with Prosecutors Against Gun Violence (PAGV), the national Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA), and prosecutors from across the U.S. in writing a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The letter encourages the Senate Majority Leader to reconvene the Senate immediately to find a solution to prevent gun violence.

"Gun violence in America is a national emergency. Every day the Senate puts off this debate is a day when someone in America will needlessly lose their life to firearms. That's why prosecutors, charges with protecting public safety, urge the Senate to take action now," states Dougherty and the other prosecutors.
