City of Longmont leaders invite residents to participate in a public workshop to discuss the implementation of Quiet Zones. The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m.

According to a press release from the City of Longmont, "Those who live within a mile or so of the railroad lines between Hover Road and Highway 66 experience approximately nine trains per day and eight trains per night. Currently, trains are required to sound their horns at all public railroad crossings."

City leaders want public input to pair with the necessary technical data prior to implementing a Quiet Zone.

The City is also conducting an online survey that launches Jan. 29 at noon and ends Feb.12 at noon. The survey can be accessed via the link below.

"A Quiet Zone is a section of rail line that contains one or more consecutive public crossings at which locomotive horns are not routinely sounded," states City communication.
