After receiving numerous reports from more than sixty Boulder County residents regarding debt collection letters despite having fulfilled their financial obligations, the Boulder County District Attorney opened an inquiry into Pearl Street Eye and Laser Center of Boulder.

The District Attorney's Office contacted the owner of Pearl Street Eye along with other individuals who worked at the business and were assisted by Capital Accounts, the agency that issued the debt collections. The owner confirmed to the D.A.'s Office that the business has been closed and the collection letters were sent in error.

Capital Accounts has confirmed that the accounts to which letters had been sent have now been canceled and further actions will not be taken by the agency. The D.A.'s Office has corroborated that the collection agency has issued refunds to those consumers who sent in payment for the erroneous letters.

The District Attorney's Office has issued an advisement that any former client of Pearl Street Eye who received a letter and sent payment to Capital Accounts contact them directly for a refund at (866) 854-5359.

The District Attorney's Community Protection Division is available to assist consumers with related matters at (303) 441-3700.
