Gossen Bart’s Anker Beard Amber “Lager” is a play on the staple Anker Beard Amber. They took a mellow amber ale with its smooth sweet notes and threw in a dash hops. This is another one those beers where the brewers successfully blended just enough hop flavor that you get that bitterness towards the end without overpowering all the other flavors in the beer. The whole thing wraps up with what I would describe as a memory of dried apricots. I’m not sure this is an improvement over the original but overall a solid beer.
