Jon Beber worked as a swim coach for the Boulder Swimming club team from 1997-2002. In 2002, he left his position and moved out of Colorado following accusations of having “inappropriate sexual contact” with multiple underage swimmers. On Tuesday, Beber was found guilty on all counts of sexual assault.

Beber coached swimming in Albany, New York, Atlanta, Georgia and Florida in addition to Colorado. He was confronted in 2002 by parents in Colorado with sexual assault allegations. He left the state and no further reports were filed.

In 2022, three victims from the Boulder team from 1997-2001 filed charges against Beber.

He was found guilty Tuesday of two counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust- a pattern of abuse and one count of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

Following the verdict, the court revoked Beber’s bond and remanded him. His sentencing is scheduled for July 19.

“This defendant sexually abused swimmers whom he coached. Despite the passage of time, and because of the courage and strength of the victims, the defendant is being held responsible for the abuse and trauma he inflicted upon them. Our office was honored to fight for justice for these victims. We appreciate the service and hard work of the jurors,” said District Attorney Michael Dougherty.
