Forecast Discussion:

The weather is so nice, I packed up the family and went camping (yes, I may have to winterize again, but it is worth it).  Sorry I didn't get this post up at 1am as usual!

I'm working on a big update for the Monday/Tuesday storm for this evening, so I'll keep it focused on the nice weather today.

Figure 1 shows high pressure driving by at the surface.  There is a stately procession of fronts and lows out west that will change things around here in another day. Figure 2 is the upper air map.  The large features are big troughs on both US coasts and a big ridge in the center.  A neat feature is the smaller (shortwave) trough now over Kansas that gave us our (surprise!) bit of rain yesterday.  That created a 'shortwave' ridge over us today with winds will be calmer and temperatures still about 20F above normal.

More tonight!

Figure 2: The current 500mb upper air map; ridges are blue lines, troughs are red lines. Longmont is the pink dot.
