Forecast Discussion:
We have some more summer to get through BUT there IS now a change in the pattern showing up in the models. Oh boy!
Figure 1, in the meantime, shows a high pressure system sitting overhead. It will be hot and dry today.
The upper air pattern has a ridge and zonal (west to east) flow over the state today (Figure 2). It is just another way to say: hot and dry today.
The fire activity to the west is GREATLY diminished, which is good news for them and us (Figure 3). So it will be hot, dry, but not so smoky today.
The longer range forecast:
There does seem to be a short wave and accompanying cool front headed our way for Saturday giving us a small cool down and a small chance of afternoon showers (Figure 4). In the middle of next week, a more significant system MAY move in and make things feel more like September around here. It looks like the pools will still be nice to swim in one final weekend!
